Recipes and Production

Recipes define how raw materials are consumed to create a finished item, while production logs record the actual conversion into finished stock.

What a recipe can contain

A recipe can store:

  • recipe name
  • target finished product
  • description
  • yield quantity
  • raw material list
  • raw material quantity
  • wastage percentage on recipe items

Why yield matters

Yield tells the system how much finished product the recipe creates. SmartBill can then scale ingredient requirements based on the requested output.

Production workflow

Typical flow:

raw material stock -> recipe -> production log -> finished product stock

What production can store

Production logs can include:

  • product
  • branch
  • quantity
  • batch number
  • manufactured date
  • expiry date
  • extra costs
  • total cost
  • notes

When production is completed:

  • raw material stock is consumed
  • finished product stock is added
  • cost and batch history are recorded
